Done 3 islands - and Sun Island, Meerufenfushi were Ok, but Angaga was superb!

Scuba Smithy:

Been to Sun Island, Veligandu and Hakurra - looked at Angaga but SHMBO wants water bungalow and I think Angaga do not have these?

Angaga

Angaga do have water bungalows - they have cool glass coffee table things you can see through to the water below.

decent snorkelling n all - turtles and black/white tip sharks hang out on the reef at the end of the water bungalows.

Much better than sun island which sucks! (decent dive school though).

Thanks for that - will have to let SWMBO know - but already booked for this year to Meeru - on all accounts hear its quite good.

Agree with you about Sun Island - Sun Island is what Texas is to the USA! Dive school - The Little Mermaid Centre was good, but some of the better staff moved on (I was there in 2001 and again in 2004) in 2004 I think - I am still in touch with one of the Japanese instructors who is now at another resort.

The glass viewing panel - they have these at Hakurra sunk into the floor under the coffee table and the water is light up at night.

Not Toshiko from Royal Island? Both Islands run by same company, I think.

PS: Going off on a tangent there - apologies to original poster!

We've been to the Maldives 3 times on different islands and I don't think you can go wrong with Ellaidhoo. Great diving all around and a fantastic house reef. The dive school was not that well run a few years back but they have been taken over so i'm sure they are ok now.

I would definately go back again which is always a good sign.

Dive School was taken over by Dive & Sail - a German company out of Hakurra Island - if they are as good as Hakurra - then they are OK. In fact some of the dive team used to be at Hakurra and I know they are good as have dived with them on the three occasions we have stayed at Hakurra. So I would give it a 'thumbs up'
